Jean Grey was cheating Scott Summers. It's been a long time since she sleept the first time with Loga.

Lovecraft would have exclaimed "The grammar. The grammar!"

Why... why did I read that?

No, more importantly... why did he write that?

Now I finally know what I was "missing" when I skipped all of the adult fan-fic during my teenage fan-fic reading stage.

Why indeed, AJ? Meanwhile, today I found in the mailbox Pamela Sargent's anthologies "More Women of Wonder" and "New Women of Wonder". Earlier this week, I acquired Kristine Kathryn Rusch's "Diving into the Wreck", but right now I'm reading Man-from-UNCLE novel "The DAGGER Affair". Silly thing, just like the show was. Next on my list, Melinda Snodgrass's "The Edge of Unreason", apparently about a War of Angels here in Albuquerque.

Leaving aside the horrific nature of the story, I'm still choking on how Jean could manage to be (1) lovers with Logan for two years, (2) a virgin, and (3) pregnant by Scott. Even bad writing needs to simulate logic a little better than that.

That fic entirely validates my feeling that stories that use "pulsating" to refer to the state of a man's genitals are dreck. (I've been horrified by that word in that context ever since reading it in a romance novel at a tender age.)

Susan... how Jean could manage to be (1) lovers with Logan for two years, (2) a virgin, and (3) pregnant by Scott

Is this what's called a non sexquitur?
Bong!!!
Ow.
That frying pan hurt.

I imagine the conversation Marvel HQ if this guy sent in this as a spec script would go something like this:

Marvel Exec 1 : I like this story! It's gritty, it's hard-hitting, it's mature - I just have one question!
Marvel Exec 2 : How Jean could manage to be (1) lovers with Logan for two years, (2) a virgin, and (3) pregnant by Scott?
Marvel Exec 1 : No, we'll just say that Magneto was behind it all. What I need to know is how do we link this in with our ongoing cross-title event "Zombie-Alien-Clone-Captain-America returns from the dead"?

Don't you go give them ideas, Neil.

I recently read that, as soon as he's finished directing Jack the Giant-killer, Bryan Singer is planning to take on X-men: First Class.
