After spending all of last weekend dancing, naturally I am planning to spend all of this weekend dancing. I'll be heading up to Mansfield, Massachusetts on Saturday and Sunday for the New England Folk Festival (NEFFA), where I will be teaching three workshop sessions and doing a dance performance. In between, I hope to spend some time just hanging out and dancing, maybe doing a little hooping if the weather is good.
Saturday's workshops are cross-step waltz at 11am, into to ragtime dance at 4pm, and traveling blues at 10pm. Sunday's performance is in the 2:45 slot and will be a peculiar mix of historical and modern couple dances: two cross-step waltzes, a Regency waltz sequence, and an 1880s galop. I was amused to find that one of the musicians for my cross-step session is actually a college yearmate of mine. Small world.
Other sessions I hope to check out: some international folk dance, since I'll be teaching at an IFD dance camp in October; the hambo session, since I am determined to actually learn how to do it one of these days; the 19thc French quadrille because I do that myself and want to see what the other person does; the gender-free contra, which unfortunately mostly overlaps a session of my own; more contra; and some modern English country dance.
NEFFA has a substantial overlap with a number of my social circles (fannish, poly, SCA, etc.) so if any Rixo readers happen to be attending, please catch me and say hi. The best time to find me is at the end of one of my sessions; I usually stick around for a few minutes to answer questions.
My best wishes to you for a good time, Susan.

I had to do a CAPTCHA on my last comment. Twice, because it didn't like my response the first time, even though it was accurate.
