Normally around this time of year I'm making an effort to read as many of the Hugo nominees as I can and posting my thoughts and votes in various categories. I'm still doing the reading this year and have had about the usual proportion of enjoyment to what-the-heck-is-this-doing-on-the-shortlist? dismay, but I've deliberately avoided posting any thoughts on the nominees and will not be posting my votes this year. The reason for this is simple: I'm organizing the Hugo Ceremony. And while that doesn't stop me from reading and voting, I think I'd find it mildly awkward to deal with nervous nominees if I've been making public statements about which of them I favor or trashing their efforts online for all the world to see. I don't imagine too many of them read Rixo, especially in its current state of torpor, but it's not impossible.
Voting for the Hugo Awards closes tomorrow, Tuesday, July 31, 2012, at 11:59 p.m. PDT (Wednesday, August 1, 2012, at 2:59 a.m. EDT). Anyone who is a member of this year's World Science Fiction Convention, Chicon 7, can vote here. If you're not a member, you can still join the convention, and if you get the membership processed fast enough, will still be able to vote. I would not put that off until the last minute if you intend to vote, since I don't know how quickly they deal with incoming memberships.
